Peacock Middle School and Itasca District 10 paid tribute to the littlest victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attack.
And their efforts were honored, in turn, by Congressman Henry Hyde, who personally stopped by last week to pick up a $6,000 check for the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.
It was the first batch of proceeds from sale of the patriotic CD, "United We Stand," created by the district last fall to benefit the Twin Towers fund. The CD is a medley of songs and readings. Eighth-grade students Jim A. and Ashley C., who helped spearhead the project, also gave Congressman Hyde two CDs.
